Koyker Manufacturing, Inc.: South Dakota Baler Attachment Invention Receives Approval From New Holland

Koyker Manufacturing, Inc. of Lennox, SD, announced today the Bale Caddie Model Series 1200 small square bale accumulator being manufactured at their Lennox facility recently received approval status from New Holland Agriculture, New Holland, PA.

“We are pleased to announce that effective March 1, 2009, the Bale Caddie bale accumulator by Koyker Manufacturing Inc. is an approved referral attachment by New Holland,” said John J. Stevenson Vice President, Sales & Marketing, New Holland Agriculture. “We have recently launched the new BC5000 Small Square Baler which offers our customers many improvements for the 2009 season. We are pleased to now offer this new opportunity with the Bale Caddie to further help our customers in their businesses.”

This announcement means the Bale Caddie will not void the New Holland Warranty when installed and operated according to the manufacturer’s instructions and allows New Holland to refer the Bale Caddie to its dealers and customers as an approved attachment.

The Bale Caddie was the brainstorm of a Nemo, SD, rancher and hay producer Art Heitz Jr. After 40 plus years of putting up thousands of small square bales and trying many types of accumulators, he finally decided to make his own. According to Heitz, every other accumulator he previously tried had issues that negated what he was trying to do in the first place… make small square bale haying a one-man operation. “It used to be you could find help to collect and stack bales. It’s not the same today. Then, when I did try the different accumulators that were out there, I always had to get off the tractor to pick up tipped bales, un-plug my baler, or re-stack the bales by hand when I got to my trailer to load. I got so fed up one day I went into my shop and built my own!”

Heitz entered his invention in the 2006 Farm Progress Inventor’s Challenge and was a Top 10 Finalist. He went on to place 1st in the 2008 South Dakota Governor’s Giant Vision Award. South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds said, “We are proud of Art Heitz Jr. and delighted with the announcement from New Holland. Our program was designed to inspire South Dakota Inventors to realize their dreams and, in this case, that is exactly what is happening. Our program was designed to bring economic development to the state and provide jobs for South Dakotans.”
