Applications are due Feb. 15

New Prague, Minn. (January 9, 2024) – The Central Plains Dairy Foundation (CPDF) is now accepting applications for its $500 Lon and Kathy Tonneson Scholarship. Annually, CPDF awards this scholarship to a student who has successfully completed at least one semester enrolled in a post-secondary college or university (two- or four-year program), pursuing a degree in agriculture, with emphasis in ag communication and/or leadership.

Selection preference will be given to applicants in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. Applications must be received by Feb. 15.

“Through this scholarship program, CPDF invests in the dairy industry’s future by offering financial support to a student focused on a career in agriculture,” said Kristy Mach, Central Plains Dairy Association executive director. “CPDF leaders share a vision to support youth who are pursuing higher education in an agriculture field – ultimately setting themselves up for a career that supports lifelong learning.”

To apply for the Lon and Kathy Tonneson Scholarship, complete the application form (found at: https://bit.ly/CPDairyFoundation), write an essay about why you think communication and leadership are important in agricultural production systems and for the future of agriculture, provide two letters of recommendation and submit your college, university or technical school transcript.
